Dapper, handsome, and cocky are words that’s can only be used together in one sentence when describing this week’s Man CrushUti Nwachukwu.

Uti, as he is widely known was born in Delta state on the 3rd of August 1982, he is 35 years old, and heis a native of Ndokwa-East LGA of Delta State. Uti spent most of his early life in the South-South region of Nigeria and as a young lad, he was one of those very rare students who could role with the cool kids and brilliant in class. According to, he was the social prefection his secondary school and he earned a degree from the Benson Idahosa University, Benin City with a BSc. in Computer Science and Education with a 3.9 GPA.

Uti first came into the public eye when he appeared on the a reality show “Next Movie Star” and subsequently featured on two seasons of the Big Brother Africa reality show where he came out as the winner on his second attempt at the price money. Unlike most reality show stars who disappear a few months after the shows wrap, Uti has capitalized on the platform created for him by his appearance on the reality show and has made a name for himself on many fronts of the Nigerian entertainment industry. Since leaving the Big Brother Africa house, Uti has shown us that he is a man of many talents. He sings, he acts, a comperes, and models.

He began his acting career in 2011 with an appearance as Marcus on the third season of MNET’s Tinsel, he has appeared in several TV series and Movies ever since. He’s featured in Movies such as;True Citizens, Finding Mercy, Breathless, Weekend Getaway Cobweb, History Box and TV series such as In the Cupboard, Tinsel. In 2012, just a year after his acting debut, he won the Golden Icon Academy Awards (GIAMA) for Best New Actor. Of course life is not just about work, but like many celebrities would prefer but find a bit difficult to achieve, Uti likes to keep his private life hush hush and is especially coy when it comes to talking about his dating life. Questions about Uti’s sexuality have been greatly publicized. People want to know where he sways; if he favours a baloney as opposed to Venus’s honeypot or vise versa. LOL. I’ll say this though; it’s almost impossible to be metrosexual in Nigeria and not have questions asked about your sexuality. On marriage, Uti has this to say to the society;

“Mind your darn business and focus on your own lives!”

When it comes to stuff he is comfortable with, Uti is quick to admit music is his first love and he continues to wow us as an actor, especially in his steamy roles, like his scene with Genevieve Nnaji in “Weekend Getaway”. But it’s his ability to own the catwalk, and slay his red carpet looks that has unanimously won him the Stylemepurple Crew’s “Man Crush” for this week.

Known to walk the red carpet clad in the trendiest and classiest bespoke pieces from the collections of the most accomplished Nigerian fashion designers, Uti has created a niche as a male model. He has modeled for top Nigerian Designer brands like Mai Atafo Insired, Yomi Casuals, James Johnson Clothing, South African Men’s wear brand, Onpoint Clothing, just to name a few. His success as a model has enlightened the very patriarchal Nigerian populace to the realization that a man can actually carve a profitable career as a model, a profession which is usually attributed to women. With his signature dreadlocked hair, bearded chin, and abs most guys can only dream of, he glides the catwalk with that “I own this B@#ch” look on his face. He was named by Vogue Italia in their publication on the “Ten best dressed Nigerians”.

He is a designer’s dream, no wonder he’s one of the most sort after celebrities by Top designers and event promoters. And guess what, he takes supporting Nigerian brands very personal and he uses his Instagram handle to showcase his love for Made in Nigeria pieces. His critics say he’s not daring enough, but that gets me thinking, are you guys (the critics) talking about the guy who left his house wearing the Nigerian coat of arms? The same guy who slayed in orange knowing it could never be the new black? Abeg abeg abeg., we love Uti nwachukwu, we love fashion and style and we love Stylemepurple
