Exciting Summer Trends of 2018 to Copy

Summer is here and we’ve got the most exciting summer trends right here. In contrast to the colder seasons, people get to wear less. Coats are traded in for Kimonos, jumpsuits for rompers and midis for minis. Here are some of the summer trends we’ve got on our radar right now.

Wide Brimmed Hats

Millineries have become quite popular on the fashion scene and many are attributing this trend to the British royals. The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has dazzled all of us with the fabulous choices of hats that tops off her outfits; from stunning Fascinators, wide brimmed hats and eye catching berets, she makes it all look so easy! Are you going out on a sunny summer day? Wide brimmed hats will definitely add some elegance to your look, while providing good shade from the sun.

Statement Sleeves

This is one of the most exciting summer trends of 2018. Professor X might have needed sugar, spice and every nice, to create the perfect girls. For you though, all you will need for a perfect dress this summer is a pair of statement sleeves. Your dress without statement sleeves might as well be Coachella without Beyoncé, or the PGA’s without Tiger Woods; and if you fancy it, you can think of it as American news without Donald Trump. It adds a fun and luxurious feel to a look. Summer is all about fun outfits after all.

Thigh High Slits

Two things usually come to mind when I think about thigh high slits. The first is “practicality”. Because of the summer heat, having a vent on a bodycon or on a long skirt makes this summer trend a very practical one. The slit also helps to provide room for easy leg movement. The second thought that comes to mind is the hit LMFAO song, “I’m sexy and I know it.” You put the minds of your admirers to work by giving them a glimpse of your lushness through the slit.

Kitten Heels

exciting summer trends

It might be difficult to accept now that shoes with kitten heels were initially made for adolescents who were learning how to walk in heels in the late 1950s. Fast forward some decades after, with the likes of Hilary Clinton, Michelle Obama and most recently, Theresa May; some of the most influential women of the 21st century, being spotted wearing shoes with this kind of heels. Of course, the trend was inevitable. They are comfortable, stylish and very trendy. I love them, especially the slingbacks.

Belted look

Are you looking for the trendiest way to jazz up your midsection? Long belts will perfectly do the trick. They can also be used to accentuate your curves in a stylish way. You can get more style inspirations for this summer trend here.

Asymmetrical ruffle skirt

Some of my favourite summer looks are those involving pieces that lets you show some skin, enabling you to flaunt some of your summer glow. Are you looking for something casual, whimsical but stylish and chic? Asymmetrical ruffle skirts will thick all those boxes.

Bike Shorts

If you ask me what I think about this trend, I’m probably going to say it’s Athleisure on steroids. Biker shorts are a 90s trend pioneered by the late Princess Diana, as they were her favourite workout shorts. We’ve been seeing a revival of this trend through the help of reality TV royalty, Kim Kardashian, who can’t seem to get enough of them. Are they too much? Au contraire, Kim doesnt think so.
