It is widely believed in Nigeria that, out of every ten people around the world, one of them is a Nigerian, or is of a Nigerian decent; so of course it was no surprise when when we spotted a number of Nigerians at the 2018 Paris Haute Couture Week, which was held around the City of Love. Nigerian Writer, Chimamanda Adichie, was one of those at the Dior Haute Couture show. Similarly, the very stylish Chinese/Nigerian model, Adesuwa Aighewi was also at the Dior show but in a working capacity. Also, one of the new faces at fashion week, model, Ayobami Okekunle is conquering the hearts of European designers, one runway at a time.
Here are some of the Nigerians at the 2018 Paris Haute Couture Week
The Nigerian Writer, Chimamana Adichie was spotted at the Dior Autumn-Winter 2018-2019 Haute Couture show. As a matter of fact, her presence at the show was seen as a demonstration of the continued friendship between the Nigerian Writer and Maria Grazier Chiuri, Dior’s Women’s Haute Couture Artistic Director, who opened her first show for the fashion house with a slogan T-shirt featuring the title of Chimamanda Adichie’s ground breaking essay, “we should all be feminists.”
She was listed by SatisfashionUG as one of the “eight African models to look out for in 2018”; Ayobami Okekunle is having the time of her life in Paris. Not only has she been featured on Elle Magazine, She has also been featured on Vogue Magazine three times. To think she was only discovered less than a year ago by the director of Few Models Management, Bolaji Fawehenmi, on Instagram. If you didn’t think your life could change in a year, Ayobami’s story might convince you.
Fashion consultant and self proclaimed Tech Nerd, Ogo Offodille, was captured by renowned Street Style photographer, Christian Vierig. She was on her way to the Schiaperrelli 2018-2019 Haute Couture Fall-Winter in Paris when the photo was taken.
The famous Nigerian was another of the models who was spotted in Paris. She was photographed leaving the Dior AW18 Haute Couture show, sporting a big smile, signaling a good day at work. The stylish model was clad in her usual fun and casual off duty model style
Another Nigerian spotted at this years Paris Couture Week was entrepreneur, Tosin Adegbite. She posed for the gram at the Ralph and Russo AW18 Haute Couture show. She also wore a green Ralph and Russo dress to mark the event.
